Camp Goodtimes provides children and youth affected by cancer and their families with an unforgettable summer camp experience in a medically supervised, safe, and supportive environment. We’ve been friendship-building and memory-making in British Columbia since 1985, and work with nearly 500 participants each summer through our kids, family, and youth camps.
Our programs offer a variety of volunteer opportunities including Arts and Crafts, Dining Hall, Host and Skip (Camp Counsellor) roles! If you’re passionate about supporting vulnerable communities, comfortable working with kids, and enjoy the outdoors, we’d love to hear from you!
Description
We believe that time spent at camp allows kids to just be kids, away from their diagnosis. We are proud to provide programming that gives joy, confidence, support and hope for children with cancer and their families.
We are currently seeking volunteers for our Kids Camp, Family Camp, and Teen Camp programs. Specific program dates can be found in our volunteer opportunities handbook at Volunteer - Camp Goodtimes.
We are proud to host Camp Goodtimes at two facilities throughout the summer. The first five weeks take place at the UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest’s stunning Loon Lake Retreat Centre near Maple Ridge, BC and our last three weeks of programming take place at Camp Pringle on the shores of Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island. Transportation is provided from Vancouver to our Maple Ridge site and back as well as from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal to our Vancouver Island site and back. Please note volunteers are able to drive their personal vehicles to site; parking is available but may be limited.
Why We Need You
The Canadian Cancer Society is proud to be a champion and voice for Canadians who care about cancer. We are committed to supporting and engaging people in communities across the country to prove that life is bigger than cancer. CCS is proud to be able to and continue to provide summers of joy, confidence, support, and hope for children and families impacted by the disease. Our camps are designed to foster independence, increase confidence, and create an environment of understanding and support.
All Camp Goodtimes programs are offered at no cost to participating families. We need you to continue to provide the distinct opportunity for connection Camp Goodtimes offers to all affected by the reality of childhood cancer.

Transportation to and from Vancouver is provided. During training weekend, members of our staff and leadership team go through our camp schedules and provide you with all the tools necessary to set you up for success!

Volunteers are expected to act with integrity, professionalism, and kindness during the duration of their session.
