    Organization Overview

    The Mel Jr. & Marty Zajac Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, located in Vancouver, BC, whose mandate is to support children, seniors and those with special needs through innovative community projects focused on developing lifelong skills and independence. Our current major focus is Zajac Ranch, a camp in Mission, BC, for children with chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions.

    Located on the shores of Stave Lake in Mission, BC, just one hour east of Vancouver, Zajac Ranch is situated on over 41 acres of pristine forested land. During the summer months, Zajac Ranch provides camps for children and young adults with chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions. In the off-season, Zajac Ranch welcomes school groups and private rentals. Revenue raised from site rentals goes to supporting Zajac Ranch medical summer camps.

    Reports To: Chef/Kitchen Manager
    Employment Type: Seasonal, part-time, on call
    Compensation: $22 – $24 (commensurate with experience)

    • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all dishware, utensils, pots and pans and other items used by camps and rental groups.
    • Ensuring Dining Hall and washroom are cleaned and ready for service and checked on a daily basis.
    • Ensure proper maintenance/operation of kitchen and cleaning equipment.
    • Assists the Chef in food prep as needed.
    • Other tasks assigned by the Chef/Kitchen Manager.
    • 1-2 years dishwashing experience required
    • Serving and food preparation Safety Certificates an asset
    • Well organized with excellent multi-tasking and communication skills
    • Excellent time management skills

    • Follow all WorkSafeBC regulations and Ranch food safety protocols
    • Use tools, chemicals and equipment safely and appropriately
    • Maintain infection prevention and sanitation standards

    Position Summary

    The Zajac Ranch dishwasher position reports to the Chef/Kitchen Manager and is responsible for supporting the dishwashing needs of the Dining Hall which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner for groups from 20 people to a maximum of 120 people. Current dining hall food service format is buffet style for summer camps, private and public schools, site rentals, weddings, retreats, conferences and special events.
